Dose Track counts hCG in IU: enter how you mixed the vial and every dose you log shows its units on the syringe, while the IU left and the date you mixed it are kept with the vial. It reminds you on each injection day and logs the site.
Novarel is injected into a muscle only. The label lists regimens advocated by various authorities for each use: four options for undescended testicles in boys, such as 4,000 USP Units three times weekly for three weeks; two for male hypogonadotropic hypogonadism; and 5,000 to 10,000 USP Units one day after the last menotropins dose to trigger ovulation.
| Use | Regimen on the label |
|---|---|
| Prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction | 4,000 USP Units three times weekly for three weeks |
| Prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction | 5,000 USP Units every second day for four injections |
| Prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction | 15 injections of 500 to 1,000 USP Units over a period of six weeks |
| Prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction | 500 USP Units three times weekly for four to six weeks; if not successful, another course is begun one month later, giving 1,000 USP Units per injection |
| Selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males | 500 to 1,000 USP Units three times a week for three weeks, followed by the same dose twice a week for three weeks |
| Selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males | 4,000 USP Units three times weekly for six to nine months, after which the dosage may be reduced to 2,000 USP Units three times weekly for an additional three months |
| Induction of ovulation and pregnancy (after menotropins) | 5,000 to 10,000 USP Units one day following the last dose of menotropins |
The labels list regimens "advocated by various authorities" for each use; for selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males, one regimen is three times a week for three weeks and then twice a week for three weeks, and another runs three times a week for months. Using hCG alongside testosterone is a prescriber decision. In Dose Track, set the days you inject and log the IU you take.
Novarel comes in 5,000 and 10,000 unit vials and Pregnyl in multiple-dose vials; both are powder that is mixed before use. Labels say "USP units", the same as the IU most people use. The table shows IU per mL and per syringe unit after mixing.
Novarel is for intramuscular use only (Dosage and Administration).
The label says the regimen depends on the use, the patient's age and weight, and the physician's preference, and that the regimens it lists "have been advocated by various authorities."
For ovulation induction, Novarel is given after pretreatment with human menotropins; the menotropins prescribing information covers that drug's dosing.

Each row is something worth writing down for hCG, why it matters for this medicine, and what Dose Track does with it.
| What to track | Why it matters | In Dose Track |
|---|---|---|
| Injection days | The label regimens for males are injections three times a week, or three times and then twice a week. | Pick the weekdays or every N days; a reminder goes off each injection day. |
| IU per shot and units to draw | hCG is dosed in IU, and units depend on how much liquid you added. | Dose Track keeps hCG vials in IU: enter the IU and mL once, and each dose shows the units on a U-100 syringe. |
| Date mixed and IU left | Once mixed, a vial has a limited life; the labels give storage after reconstitution. | Each vial keeps its mix date, an expiry you set and the IU left, with a run-out date. |
| Injection site | Novarel and Pregnyl are labeled for injection into muscle. | Log the site and any reaction; the next site is suggested. |
| Testosterone and estradiol | hCG acts on the same receptor as LH, which drives testosterone production. | Upload a lab report; total testosterone, estradiol, LH and FSH are read out and shown next to your doses. |
The Novarel label lists headache, irritability, restlessness, depression, fatigue, edema (swelling), precocious puberty, gynecomastia (breast growth) and pain at the injection site, without percentages. Allergic reactions such as redness, hives, rash, swelling and shortness of breath have been reported. When used with menotropins for ovulation, the main serious risks are ovarian hyperstimulation, ovarian cyst problems, multiple births and arterial blood clots.
In Dose Track, log headache, tiredness or anything else you notice by typing it in, with a severity, next to the injection it followed.
The Novarel label gives no missed-dose instruction. Ask your prescriber what to do if an injection is late, especially for a timed ovulation trigger. Missed an hCG injection.
In Dose Track a missed dose stands out in your history, so you can see the gap and count from the right day.
Dose Track is a tracking app, not medical advice. It records what you and your prescriber decide; it does not recommend doses. Check any dose change with your prescriber.
