Short answer: Store the unmixed Novarel powder at room temperature, 68-77°F (20-25°C). Once you mix it with the bacteriostatic water it comes with, the label says: refrigerate at 36-46°F (2-8°C) and use within 30 days. That 30-day figure is Novarel's; Pregnyl's label gives 60 days. | Stage | Storage | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Unmixed powder | 68-77°F (20-25°C); excursions 59-86°F (15-30°C) | Until the expiration date |
| Mixed | Refrigerate at 36-46°F (2-8°C) | Use within 30 days |
Storage section, in capitals on the label: “REFRIGERATE RECONSTITUTED PRODUCT AT 2° to 8°C (36° to 46°F) AND USE WITHIN 30 DAYS.” The Description section adds that when mixed with bacteriostatic water preserved with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, “the solution should be refrigerated and used within 30 days.”
Yes. Novarel comes as 5,000 or 10,000 unit multiple-dose vials with a 10 mL vial of Bacteriostatic Water for Injection with 0.9% benzyl alcohol. The 30 days is tied to mixing with that diluent. The label does not give a figure for other liquids. See bacteriostatic vs sterile water.
Dose and unit math for hCG is on the hCG page and the reconstitution calculator.
The Novarel label gives no room-temperature allowance for the mixed solution and no instruction for freezing. Ask your pharmacist or fertility clinic about a vial that spent time outside the fridge.
Unmixed Novarel can travel at room temperature. Once mixed, keep it cold in an insulated bag with a cold pack that does not touch the vial.
