Short answer: Go to Profile › Settings › Create account or sign in, then pick Continue with Apple (iPhone only), Continue with Google or Continue with email. The account is free and optional. Your records stay on your phone either way.
Before you start: You do not need an account to use Dose Track. It only matters if you want to move your data to another phone or keep an encrypted backup.
Steps
- Open SettingsOpen the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Settings.
- Open the Account rowAt the top, under Account, tap Create account or sign in. You land on Create your free account.
- Choose how to sign upTap Continue with Apple (shown on iPhone only), Continue with Google, or Continue with email.
- Email: pick a passwordFor email, enter your Email, a Password of at least 10 characters, the same password again, then tap Create account.
- Apple or Google: create a backup passwordApple and Google accounts have no password yet, so the next screen, Create a backup password, asks for one. This step cannot be skipped. Tap Continue.
- Make your two choicesOn Set up your account, turn on Encrypted backup if you want it (Pro) and the tips email if you want it. Both start off. Tap Done.
Your password is also the key
Your password (or backup password, for Apple and Google accounts) is what locks your backup. It is turned into an encryption key on your phone, and Dose Track never sees it. That means it cannot be reset. If you forget it, the backup cannot be opened by anyone.
- Save it in a password manager, or write it down somewhere safe.
- You can change it any time while signed in: Settings › Account › Change password. Your backup stays readable, and other phones are signed out.
- If it is gone for good, use Settings › Send Feedback or email hello@dosetrack.app, and the old account can be deleted so you can start again with the same email. The old backup cannot be recovered.
What an account does and does not do
An account lets you use Send to a new phone (free) and Automatic backup (Pro). It does not move your records off your phone by itself. Nothing is uploaded until you turn on backup or send a transfer.
The News and tips email is off unless you turn it on, and you can switch it off later on the Account page.
Is a Dose Track account free?+
Yes. Creating an account and moving data to a new phone are free. Only automatic cloud backup needs Pro.
Why is there no Apple button on my Android phone?+
Sign in with Apple is only shown on iPhone. On Android, use Google or email.
Can Dose Track reset my password?+
No. Your password is the key that locks your backup, and Dose Track never has it. You can change it while signed in, but nobody can reset it for you.
Do I need an account to use the app?+
No. Everything works without one, and your records live on your phone. You can tap "No thanks, stop asking" to hide the prompt.
