Short answer: Sign in, then go to Settings › Account and switch on Automatic backup (Pro). It backs up about once a day, encrypted on your phone first. To get it back, sign in and tap Restore from backup, which is free.
Before you start: You need a Dose Track account (see create an account). Turning backup on needs Pro. Restoring does not.
Steps
- Open your Account pageOpen the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom and tap Settings. Tap Account at the top.
- Turn on Automatic backupUnder Encrypted backup, switch on Automatic backup. Without Pro, this row shows a Pro badge and opens the upgrade screen instead.
- Back up right away (optional)With backup on, tap Back up now. The row under Automatic backup shows the time of the last backup.
- Restore on a phoneSign in to the same account. Dose Track offers Restore your backup? right after sign-in. You can also tap Restore from backup on the Account page later.
- ConfirmTap Restore. When it finishes, All set shows how many records and photos came back.
What a backup holds and how it is locked
A backup brings back your doses, vials, labs, photos and settings. It is encrypted on your phone with a key locked by your password before it is uploaded, so Dose Track stores it but cannot read it.
Restoring adds the backup to the phone. Records already on the phone stay. Anything in both places is updated to the saved version. Some settings take effect the next time you open the app.
If your Pro subscription ends
Backups stop and your last backup is frozen. The Account page shows the date it will be deleted: 90 days after Pro ended. Until that date you can still restore it for free. After it, the backup is deleted for good.
Messages you might see
- Your backup is locked on this phone. Tap Unlock and enter your password (or backup password).
- There is a backup from another phone. Automatic backup pauses so this phone does not overwrite it. Tap Restore to bring it here, or Replace to overwrite it with this phone's data. Replace cannot be undone.
- To stop backing up, switch Automatic backup off. Your last backup stays until you tap Delete backup.
