Jatenzo Dosing Schedule: FDA Label Dose Steps
[Dosing schedule · Jatenzo]

Jatenzo dosing schedule

testosterone undecanoate · twice-daily oral capsule · Label checked

Short answer: The Jatenzo label starts at 237 mg by mouth twice daily, morning and evening, with food. Serum testosterone is drawn 6 hours after the morning dose, at least 7 days after starting or any change. Under 425 ng/dL the dose steps up; over 970 ng/dL it steps down. The range is 158 mg to 396 mg twice daily.

This is what the FDA label says. Follow your prescriber. Your prescriber may use a different dose or pace than the label's standard schedule.

What Jatenzo is approved for: Jatenzo is approved as testosterone replacement therapy in adult males with low or absent natural testosterone due to primary hypogonadism (testicular failure) or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (a pituitary or hypothalamus cause). The label says safety and efficacy have not been established in men with "age-related hypogonadism" or in males under 18 (section 1).

Other dosing rules on the label

  • Section 2.1

Before starting, hypogonadism is confirmed by morning serum testosterone measured on at least two separate days, with both results below the normal range.

  • Section 2.2

The dose is individualized based on the serum testosterone response. The starting dose is 237 mg twice daily.

  • Section 2.2

Serum testosterone is measured 6 hours after the morning dose, in plain tubes clotted at room temperature for 30 minutes before centrifuging. The dose is adjusted from this result using Table 1.

  • Section 2.2

The label says to wait seven days after starting or after a dose change before checking serum testosterone, and then to check it periodically 6 hours after the morning dose.

  • Section 2.2

The minimum recommended dose is 158 mg twice daily and the maximum is 396 mg (two 198 mg capsules) twice daily. If testosterone is above 970 ng/dL on 158 mg twice daily, treatment is discontinued.

  • Section 5.1

Hematocrit is checked before starting and about every 3 months. A high level may require a lower dose or stopping until it falls.

  • Section 5.4

Blood pressure is checked periodically, especially in men with high blood pressure. Jatenzo is not recommended with uncontrolled high blood pressure.

  • Section 5.12

The lipid profile is checked periodically, particularly after starting testosterone.

What does the label say about a missed dose?

  • No rule

The Jatenzo label gives no missed-dose instruction. Ask your prescriber what to do if a dose is missed.

How can Dose Track follow this schedule?

In Dose Track you set up Jatenzo as a protocol with the dose and schedule your prescriber gave you. A protocol can hold dose steps, each with its own dose and length in days or weeks, so a step-up plan like the one on the label can be entered once and the app moves to the next step on its own. Reminders follow the schedule, and every dose is logged with the date and time, so you can see which step you are on and when your last dose was. The app follows what you enter; it does not choose or change a dose.
