How to store Xyosted

Quoted from the US label · Unopened vs in use · Travel · Sources · Reviewed

Short answer: Store Xyosted autoinjectors at 68-77°F (20-25°C); brief trips to 59-86°F (15-30°C) are allowed. The label says do not refrigerate or freeze, and use it at room temperature. Keep each autoinjector in the carton until use to protect it from light. Each one is single-use: once the cap is off, use it or throw it away. Source: Xyosted label, section 16.2.

What does the Xyosted label say about storage?

Section 16.2: “Do Not refrigerate or freeze. Use at room temperature. Store at controlled room temperature, 20°C to 25°C (68°F - 77°F); excursions permitted to 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F). Protect from light (keep in carton until time of use).”

Is there an in-use period for Xyosted?

No. Each Xyosted autoinjector holds one weekly dose of testosterone enanthate, preservative-free. The Instructions for Use: “The Auto-Injector should be used or discarded after the Cap is removed. Do not re-Cap for later use.”

Section 16.1: do not use it “if the liquid is cloudy or if visible particles are present.” See the testosterone enanthate page for how it compares with vials.

What if Xyosted was refrigerated or froze?

The label says do not refrigerate or freeze, and gives no instruction for one that was. Check it for cloudiness or particles, and ask your pharmacist before using it.

How do you travel with it?

Xyosted travels at room temperature with no cold pack needed; keep it in the carton and away from hot cars, since excursions stop at 86°F (30°C).

  • TSA allows medically necessary liquids over 3.4 oz in carry-on bags; declare them at the checkpoint for inspection.
  • Unused syringes and pen needles are allowed when they travel with the injectable medicine.
  • Ice packs and gel packs that keep medicine cool may go through frozen, partly frozen or melted.
  • Keep medicine in your carry-on, not checked luggage, where you cannot control the temperature. Do not let it touch an ice pack directly, since most labels say do not freeze.
