Short answer: Keep new Ozempic pens in the fridge at 36-46°F (2-8°C). Once you have used a pen, the label allows 56 days at 59-86°F (15-30°C) or in the fridge. Never freeze it, and do not use a pen that has been frozen. Single-dose prefilled syringes may sit at 46-86°F for up to 28 days. Source: Ozempic label, section 16.
| Form | Before first use | After first use |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-dose pen | Refrigerator, 36-46°F (2-8°C), until the expiration date | 56 days at 59-86°F (15-30°C) or in the refrigerator |
| Single-dose prefilled syringe | Refrigerator, 36-46°F (2-8°C); if needed, 46-86°F (8-30°C) for up to 28 days | One-time use; discard after use |
Section 16 says the unused pen “should be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Do not store in the freezer or directly adjacent to the refrigerator cooling element.” It also says Ozempic “must be kept in the original carton until time of administration.”
Section 16: “After first use of the OZEMPIC pen, the pen can be stored for 56 days at controlled room temperature 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F) or in a refrigerator.” The 56 days counts from the first injection, not from when you took the pen out of the fridge.
Dose math for the pens is on the Ozempic guide; the molecule is covered on the semaglutide page.
Frozen: section 16 says “Do not freeze OZEMPIC and do not use OZEMPIC if it has been frozen.” The Instructions for Use repeat it. Thawing does not make it usable again.
Warm: the label gives no allowance above 86°F (30°C). An unused pen has no room-temperature allowance before first use; the label says to refrigerate it. The single-dose syringe Instructions for Use say to record the date it came out of the fridge and dispose of it if not used within 28 days. If a pen spent time outside these limits, ask your pharmacist before using it. See also left out of the fridge.
An in-use Ozempic pen can travel at room temperature for the rest of its 56 days, as long as it stays between 59°F and 86°F (15-30°C). Unused pens should stay cold, so pack them in an insulated bag with a cold pack that does not touch the pen.
