What does the Egrifta SV label say?

Section 16: “Store EGRIFTA SV 2 mg vial at room temperature at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F); excursions permitted to 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F). Protect EGRIFTA SV from light by keeping in the original box until time of use.”

Why can't you keep mixed Egrifta SV?

Egrifta SV is a single-dose vial mixed with 0.5 mL of sterile water, which has no preservative. Patient Information: “After mixing, use EGRIFTA SV right away. Throw away any unused EGRIFTA SV after mixing. Do not store, freeze or refrigerate EGRIFTA SV after it has been mixed with the Sterile Water.”

The label notes that Egrifta SV and Egrifta WR differ in dose, mixing and storage. Do not apply one's rules to the other. See bacteriostatic vs sterile water and the tesamorelin page.

What if Egrifta SV got cold or hot?

Unmixed vials have excursions allowed to 59-86°F (15-30°C). The label does not address a vial outside that range; ask your pharmacist. Before injecting, use only a solution that is clear, colorless and free of particles (section 2.2).

How do you travel with it?

Egrifta SV travels at room temperature with no cold chain. Bring both boxes, since the vials and the sterile water are packed separately.

  • TSA allows medically necessary liquids over 3.4 oz in carry-on bags; declare them at the checkpoint for inspection.
  • Unused syringes and pen needles are allowed when they travel with the injectable medicine.
  • Ice packs and gel packs that keep medicine cool may go through frozen, partly frozen or melted.
  • Keep medicine in your carry-on, not checked luggage, where you cannot control the temperature. Do not let it touch an ice pack directly, since most labels say do not freeze.
