Tesamorelin is a synthetic analog of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It is FDA approved as Egrifta for one specific use in adults with HIV.
Also known as: Egrifta, Egrifta SV, Egrifta WR.
Egrifta SV comes as a 2 mg powder vial. Other powder vials are usually labeled 2 mg, 5 mg or 10 mg.
Here is the math for a 5 mg vial mixed with 2.5 mL of bacteriostatic water, drawing 1 mg with a U-100 insulin syringe (1 mL = 100 units).
5 mg ÷ 2.5 mL = 2 mg/mL1 mg ÷ 2 mg/mL = 0.5 mL0.5 mL × 100 = 50 units| Amount | Volume | U-100 syringe |
|---|---|---|
| 500 mcg | 0.25 mL | 25 units |
| 1 mg | 0.5 mL | 50 units |
| 2 mg | 1 mL | 100 units |
Adding more water doesn't change how much tesamorelin is in the vial. It only spreads it over more liquid, so each draw is bigger and easier to read.
| Water added | Concentration | Volume | U-100 syringe |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 mL | 5 mg/mL | 0.2 mL | 20 units |
| 2 mL | 2.5 mg/mL | 0.4 mL | 40 units |
| 2.5 mL | 2 mg/mL | 0.5 mL | 50 units |
| 3 mL | 1.67 mg/mL | 0.6 mL | 60 units |
| 5 mL | 1 mg/mL | 1 mL | 100 units |
For any other vial size or amount, the free peptide reconstitution calculator works backwards from the amount you want and suggests a water volume that lands on a clean syringe mark.
The current FDA Egrifta SV label reports a mean half-life of 8 minutes after a single injection under the skin, and a median time to peak of 0.15 hours (about 9 minutes). The Egrifta WR label reports 11 minutes and the same 0.15-hour peak. An older 1 mg Egrifta label reported 26 to 38 minutes, measured after 14 days of daily dosing.
Numbers shown are the values Dose Track uses, listed only where they agree with the source above. Half-life varies from person to person and with injection site.
