Short answer: Steglatro (ertugliflozin) and Jardiance (empagliflozin) are SGLT2 inhibitor tablets taken once a day in the morning.12 Steglatro is approved only for blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. Jardiance is also approved for heart failure, chronic kidney disease and heart risk in type 2 diabetes, and for children 10 and older. Neither label reports a trial against the other.

The approved uses. Steglatro's label covers blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes.1 Jardiance's label also covers lowering the risk of heart death and heart failure hospital stays in heart failure, kidney decline in chronic kidney disease, and heart death in type 2 diabetes with heart disease, at 10 mg.2
Both labels list genital yeast infections and urinary tract infections as common, and Jardiance lists ketoacidosis as its first serious risk. Steglatro is not recommended with an eGFR under 45.12 These numbers come from separate trials with different people, lengths and methods, so they are not a head-to-head comparison.
