Steglatro Dosing Schedule: 5 mg to 15 mg, FDA Label
[Dosing schedule · Steglatro]

Steglatro dosing schedule

ertugliflozin · once-daily oral tablet, 5 mg or 15 mg · Label checked

Short answer: The Steglatro label starts at 5 mg by mouth once daily in the morning, with or without food. For more blood sugar control, people tolerating it may go up to 15 mg once daily. It is not recommended with an eGFR under 45. A missed dose is taken as soon as possible, without doubling the next one.

This is what the FDA label says. Follow your prescriber. Your prescriber may use a different dose or pace than the label's standard schedule.

What Steglatro is approved for: Steglatro is an SGLT2 inhibitor approved, along with diet and exercise, to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (section 1).

Other dosing rules on the label

  • Section 5.1

Steglatro is withheld, if possible, during short-term situations that could raise the risk of ketoacidosis, and restarted when the person is stable and eating again.

  • Section 5.1

Urine glucose stays raised for 4 days after stopping Steglatro; ketoacidosis and urine glucose lasting more than 6 days and up to 2 weeks after stopping SGLT2 inhibitors have been reported.

  • Section 5.5

With insulin or a sulfonylurea, the label says lowering their dose may reduce the risk of low blood sugar.

  • Medication Guide

Steglatro makes urine test positive for glucose.

What does the label say about a missed dose?

  • Section 2.4

If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible, and do not double up the next dose. The Medication Guide adds: if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one at the regular time.

More on this: missed a dose of Steglatro.

How can Dose Track follow this schedule?

In Dose Track you set up Steglatro as a protocol with the dose and schedule your prescriber gave you. A protocol can hold dose steps, each with its own dose and length in days or weeks, so a step-up plan like the one on the label can be entered once and the app moves to the next step on its own. Reminders follow the schedule, and every dose is logged with the date and time, so you can see which step you are on and when your last dose was. The app follows what you enter; it does not choose or change a dose.
