Definition: A maintenance dose is the regular dose a plan settles on and keeps, after any starting or step-up phase. On GLP-1 labels it is the dose reached at the end of titration. It differs from a loading dose, a larger first dose used to reach target levels sooner.
| Label | What it says about maintenance |
|---|---|
| Ozempic (semaglutide) | Recommended maintenance dosage is 0.5 mg, 1 mg or 2 mg once weekly, based on glycemic control |
| Wegovy injection (semaglutide) | Titrate every 4 weeks to the maintenance dosage; usual maintenance dosage is 2.4 mg once weekly |
| Zepbound (tirzepatide) | Weight reduction and long-term maintenance: 5 mg, 10 mg or 15 mg once weekly; consider response and tolerability |
| Mounjaro (tirzepatide) | Starts at 2.5 mg and steps up in 2.5 mg increments; uses "maximum dosage" rather than a named maintenance dose |
Some labels give a range, not one number. The maintenance dose is chosen within that range by the prescriber.

Logging the step-up and the date you reached your maintenance dose makes it easier to tell early side effects from later ones. Dose Track keeps the dose history, so the date of each change is on record.
