Short answer: Estradiol/Progesterone has a half-life of estradiol about 26 to 28 hours; progesterone about 9 to 10 hours. Levels peak estradiol about 3 to 6 hours; progesterone about 3 hours (with food) after a dose. People vary, so treat these as estimates.
Bijuva (Mayne Pharma) combines estradiol with progesterone in one capsule, both the same as the hormones the body makes, for women with a uterus who have hot flashes after menopause. It is taken each evening with food.
Also known as: Bijuva.
Bijuva comes as 0.5 mg estradiol/100 mg progesterone and 1 mg estradiol/100 mg progesterone capsules, 30 to a carton.
The Bijuva label approves it for women with a uterus to treat moderate to severe hot flashes due to menopause. Label dosing is one capsule each evening with food, generally starting on 0.5 mg/100 mg, and the label says to try tapering or stopping every 3 to 6 months. It also says to consider starting it in women under 60 or within 10 years of menopause onset, because timing affects the overall risk and benefit.
The current Bijuva label has no boxed warning; our transcription notes it was removed in February 2026, following FDA's November 2025 move on menopause hormone labels. Its warnings still cover blood clots, stroke and heart attack and breast cancer from the Women's Health Initiative estrogen plus progestin trial, plus gallbladder disease and vision problems. Breast tenderness was 10.4% on 1 mg/100 mg vs 0.7% on placebo. Full numbers are on the Bijuva side effects, Bijuva dosing schedule and missed Bijuva dose pages, Bijuva vs Prometrium compares it with progesterone alone, and Bijuva storage covers handling.
The Bijuva label says that after repeated doses with food, estradiol peaks about 3 to 6 hours and progesterone about 3 hours after a capsule. The half-life was 28 and 26 hours for estradiol and 9 and 10 hours for progesterone on the 0.5 mg/100 mg and 1 mg/100 mg strengths. Food raised progesterone peak levels by 162%.
