Short answer: Aveed vials are stored at controlled room temperature, 77°F (25°C), with excursions to 59-86°F (15-30°C) permitted, in the original carton until the date shown. Each vial is single use, and any unused portion is discarded. Aveed is given only in a healthcare setting under a restricted program, so storage is usually the clinic's job. Section 16: “Store at controlled room temperature 25ºC (77ºF); excursions permitted to 15ºC to 30ºC (59ºF to 86ºF) [See USP controlled room temperature] in its original carton until the date indicated.” Also: “Before use, each vial should be visually inspected. Only vials free from particles should be used.” and “Single Use Vial. Discard unused portion.”

Section 5.2 says Aveed is available only through a restricted program, the Aveed REMS Program, and prescribers must be certified before ordering or dispensing it. Section 2.1 gives 750 mg injected into the muscle at the start, at 4 weeks, and every 10 weeks after that, and the label says patients are observed in the healthcare setting for 30 minutes after each injection. See the Aveed dosing schedule.
