Angeliq Dosing: One Tablet Daily, No Break | Dose Track
[Dosing schedule · Angeliq]

Angeliq dosing schedule

drospirenone and estradiol tablets · once-daily oral tablet, 0.25 mg/0.5 mg or 0.5 mg/1 mg, taken without a break · Label checked

Short answer: Angeliq is one tablet by mouth once daily, swallowed whole with some liquid, with or without food, ideally at the same time each day. Each pack covers 28 days and the next pack starts right away with no break. A forgotten tablet is taken as soon as possible, but if more than 24 hours have passed, the missed tablet is not taken.

This is what the FDA label says. Follow your prescriber. Your prescriber may use a different dose or pace than the label's standard schedule.

What Angeliq is approved for: Angeliq combines estradiol (E2) with the progestin drospirenone (DRSP), for a woman with a uterus. Both strengths treat moderate to severe hot flashes due to menopause, and the 0.5 mg DRSP/1 mg E2 strength also treats moderate to severe vulvar and vaginal atrophy symptoms due to menopause (sections 1.1, 1.2). Drospirenone has antialdosterone activity, which can raise potassium (section 5.2).

Other dosing rules on the label

  • Section 2

Estrogen, alone or with a progestogen, is used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration consistent with treatment goals and risks, with periodic re-evaluation.

  • Section 2.2

When prescribing only for vulvar and vaginal atrophy, topical vaginal products are considered first.

  • Section 2

If several tablets are forgotten, bleeding may occur.

  • Section 5.2

Potassium checks during the first month may be considered in high-risk patients who take strong CYP3A4 inhibitors long-term.

  • Section 5.1

If feasible, estrogens are stopped at least 4 to 6 weeks before surgery linked to a higher risk of blood clots, or during long immobilization.

What does the label say about a missed dose?

  • Section 2

A forgotten tablet is taken as soon as possible. If more than 24 hours have passed, the missed tablet is not taken. If several tablets are forgotten, bleeding may occur (section 2, Patient Information).

More on this: missed a dose of Angeliq.

What does the label say about switching?

  • Section 2

Women not taking estrogens, or changing from a continuous combination product, may start Angeliq at any time.

  • Section 2

Women changing from a continuous sequential or cyclic hormone therapy complete the current cycle before starting Angeliq.

How can Dose Track follow this schedule?

In Dose Track you set up Angeliq as a protocol with the dose and schedule your prescriber gave you. A protocol can hold dose steps, each with its own dose and length in days or weeks, so a step-up plan like the one on the label can be entered once and the app moves to the next step on its own. Reminders follow the schedule, and every dose is logged with the date and time, so you can see which step you are on and when your last dose was. The app follows what you enter; it does not choose or change a dose.
