Nandrolone phenylpropionate (NPP, also spelled phenpropionate) is the anabolic steroid nandrolone attached to a shorter phenylpropionate ester and dissolved in oil for injection into muscle. It was sold in the US as Durabolin, but that approval was withdrawn in 2018.
Also known as: NPP, Durabolin, nandrolone phenpropionate.
Durabolin came as 25 mg/mL and 50 mg/mL injections, and Drugs@FDA lists it and every US generic as discontinued. Check the strength printed on your vial; the math below uses 50 mg/mL only as an example. It is already a liquid, so there is nothing to mix.
Nandrolone phenylpropionate is already a solution, so there is no mixing. The only math is turning an amount in mg into a volume. Here it is at 50 mg/mL for 25 mg.
25 mg ÷ 50 mg/mL = 0.5 mL0.5 mL × 100 = 50 units| Amount | Volume | U-100 syringe |
|---|---|---|
| 12.5 mg | 0.25 mL | 25 units |
| 25 mg | 0.5 mL | 50 units |
| 37.5 mg | 0.75 mL | 75 units |
| 50 mg | 1 mL | 100 units |
FDA withdrew approval of Durabolin (nandrolone phenpropionate injection, NDA 011891) in September 2018 after the holder said it was no longer marketed. Drugs@FDA lists Durabolin and the generic nandrolone phenpropionate injections as discontinued, so there is no NPP product approved for people in the US today.
Anabolic steroids are Schedule III controlled substances in the US, and this one is named in the federal list (21 CFR 1308.13(f)). Having it without a valid prescription is illegal. (Nandrolone and its esters are listed.) It is on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List as an anabolic agent, banned in and out of competition.
In a study of healthy men given a single 100 mg injection of either nandrolone ester (Minto 1997), the phenylpropionate gave higher and earlier peak nandrolone levels than the decanoate, and suppressed the body's own testosterone faster but for a shorter time. For the label warnings that apply to nandrolone, see the nandrolone decanoate page.
The study we found that compared the two esters in men (Minto 1997) reports that the phenylpropionate peaks higher and earlier than the decanoate, but its summary gives no half-life or time to peak in hours, so we do not list one.
