Short answer: Keep new Soliqua 100/33 pens in the fridge at 36-46°F (2-8°C), protected from light. After the first injection, keep the pen at room temperature up to 77°F (25°C), not back in the fridge, and throw it away 28 days after first use. Do not freeze it, and discard a pen that froze. Section 16.2: “Prior to first use, SOLIQUA 100/33 pen should be stored in a refrigerator, 36°F–46°F (2°C–8°C). Do not freeze. Discard SOLIQUA 100/33 if it has been frozen. Protect from light.” Then: “After first use, store at room temperature up to 77°F (25°C). Replace the pen cap after each use to protect from light. Discard pen 28 days after first use.”
| Form | Before first use | After first use |
|---|---|---|

Soliqua combines insulin glargine (the insulin in Lantus) with lixisenatide, a GLP-1 drug. The Lantus page has different in-use rules, so the two are not interchangeable for storage. For a missed dose, see missed a Soliqua dose.
Frozen: the label says discard Soliqua if it has been frozen, and the Instructions for Use say “If you accidentally freeze your pen, throw it away.”
Warm: room-temperature storage after first use stops at 77°F (25°C), and the label gives no room-temperature allowance for a pen that has not been used yet. Ask your pharmacist about a pen that went outside these limits. See also left out of the fridge.
An in-use Soliqua pen travels at room temperature for the rest of its 28 days, but the ceiling is 77°F (25°C), lower than many pens, so an insulated bag helps in warm weather. Unused pens stay cold.
