Short answer: Menopur powder can be kept in the fridge or at room temperature, anywhere from 37°F to 77°F (3-25°C), protected from light. Once mixed, the label says use it right away and throw away any unused medicine; there is no storage time for mixed Menopur. Source: Menopur label, section 16.2 and Patient Information.
Section 16.2: “Lyophilized powder may be stored refrigerated or at room temperature (3° to 25° C/37° to 77°F) until dispensed. Protect from light. Use immediately after reconstitution. Discard unused material.”
| Question | Label answer |
|---|---|
| Powder, before mixing | Refrigerator or room temperature, 37-77°F (3-25°C) |
| Light | Protect from light |
| After mixing | Use right after mixing |
| Leftover mixed medicine | Throw it away |
| Diluent | 2 mL vial of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection with each vial (section 16.1) |
The Patient Information says the same in plain words: before mixing, store the powder in the refrigerator or at room temperature between 37°F and 77°F (3-25°C); protect it from light; use it right after mixing; throw away any unused Menopur.
No storage time is given for mixed Menopur. The label says use it immediately after reconstitution and discard unused material, so each dose is mixed when it is given. The Patient Information notes you may need more than 1 vial for your dose.
Section 2.2 gives a starting dose of 225 International Units a day, given under the skin from cycle day 2 or 3. See the Menopur dosing schedule, Menopur side effects and Menopur vs Gonal-f.
Menopur powder has a wide range, 37-77°F (3-25°C), so it can travel in or out of a cooler as long as it stays in that range and out of the light. Mixed medicine is not kept.
