Methandrostenolone (methandienone, sold as Dianabol) is an oral anabolic steroid, a 17-alpha-methylated form of boldenone. We found no methandrostenolone product approved for people in the US.
Also known as: Methandienone, Metandienone, Dianabol, Dbol.
We found no methandrostenolone product in FDA's Drugs@FDA database, so there are no US label strengths to list.
Methandrostenolone has no FDA label for people that we could find. Anabolic steroids are Schedule III controlled substances in the US, and this one is named in the federal list (21 CFR 1308.13(f)). Having it without a valid prescription is illegal. It is on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List as an anabolic agent, banned in and out of competition.
In a small 1976 double-blind crossover trial in 11 men during weight training (Hervey 1976), body weight and lean mass rose on methandienone, but strength and performance did not improve more than on placebo, and the authors said the weight gain may have been extra fluid. Blood testosterone fell and cortisol rose while on it.
In 14 weight lifters and bodybuilders who took methandrostenolone together with testosterone and nandrolone injections (Webb 1984), average HDL cholesterol fell from 61 to 29 mg/dL while on the steroids, and LDL rose from 125 to 150 mg/dL.
We found no published human study giving methandrostenolone's half-life or time to peak, so we do not list the app's modeling values (4.5 hours and 1 hour).
