Does nasal testosterone avoid the transfer risk?

AndroGel's boxed warning describes virilization in children who touched unwashed or uncovered application sites.2 Natesto is applied inside the nose and has no such boxed warning. Its label does advise washing your hands if gel gets on them while priming the pump.1

How do the trial numbers compare?

Each label reports its own single-arm trial with a slightly different normal range and length: 90% of Natesto users were in range at day 90, and 81.6% of AndroGel 1.62% users at day 112.12 These were not head-to-head trials.

Natesto's peak comes about 40 minutes after each dose, which is why it is taken three times a day.1 AndroGel absorbs through the skin over the full day.2

Which one is right for me?

That is for you and your prescriber. Three daily doses vs one, nasal history, and who you share close contact with are the practical differences on the labels. For gels vs injections, see Testosterone cypionate injection vs testosterone gel: what is different?.
