Short answer: Store Tirosint at room temperature, 68-77°F (20-25°C), with excursions allowed to 59-86°F (15-30°C), away from heat, light and moisture. Keep each capsule in its blister until you are ready to take it, and do not cut the cavities apart from the blister. Source: Tirosint label, section 16, and Patient Information.
Section 16.2: “Store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F); excursions permitted to 15°-30°C (59-86°F) [see USP Controlled Room Temperature]. TIROSINT capsules should be protected from heat, light and moisture.”
| Question | Label answer |
|---|---|
| Temperature | 68-77°F (20-25°C) |
| Excursions | 59-86°F (15-30°C) |
| Protect from | Heat, light and moisture |
| Packaging | Boxes of 30 capsules: 3 blisters of 10 |
| Out of the blister | Not until ready to use |
| Refrigerator | Not stated |
Section 16.2: “Do not separate the individual cavities containing the drug from the intact blister as important information may be lost (i.e., manufacturer/distributor names, distributor contact phone number, lot number, and expiration date), and do not remove the individual capsules from blister packaging until ready to use.”
Each strength has its own color on the box and blister; the capsules themselves are not color-coded. That matters if you carry more than one strength. See Tirosint side effects, the Tirosint dosing schedule, Tirosint vs Synthroid and the levothyroxine page.
Tirosint needs no ice pack. Bring whole blister strips in your carry-on rather than a pill organizer, since the label says not to take capsules out until you take them. Keep them within 59-86°F (15-30°C), dry, and out of a hot car.
